Maritime Colors

Sept. 30-Oct. 8, 2021

Words, even photos, can’t quite do New England and Maritime Canada’s renowned coastlines justice in autumn. But, your YMCA Alumni Travel Club’s nine-night ocean cruise does.

Our cruise departs and returns to Cape Liberty, N..J. (just a short distance from Newark's Liberty International Airport). Welcome aboard Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas showcasing the brightly bursting hillsides, rugged mountains, crisp seaside air and freshly caught lobster. Port stops along the northeastern U.S. and Canada's maritime coasts, including Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, Halifax and St. John, are renowned for national parks, historic monuments, and colorful, fun adventures. This magnificent sailing is all about the destination and the journey. With friends.

Day One: Board the Freedom of the Seas at Cape Liberty, N.J. with a front-and-center-stage view of Lower New York Harbor. Cape Liberty is only a hop, skip and a short subway ride away from New York City and Newark's Liberty International Airport.

Day Two: At sea. A relaxing, full day at sea. Take the time to explore this magnificent ocean liner and all the activities and dining options on board.

Day Three: Portland, MaineOnce you set foot on the historic cobblestone streets of Portland, Maine, you'll know what keeps visitors flocking to these shores from around the world. Stroll Casco Bay out to the lighthouse, peruse through the shops of Congress Street and the Old Port, or taste your way through the many highly regarded breweries inside the city.

Day Four: Boston, MassToting over 400 years of history, Boston is one of the oldest cities in America. See Revolution-era sites like the Old North Church amid modern cityscapes, and homes where legendary patriots, politicians and poets once lived. Stroll the 2.5-mile Freedom Trail past 16 historical sites including the Boston Massacre, Quincy Market and the USS Constitution (also known as Old Ironsides).

Day Five: Bar Harbor, MaineNew England charm, scenic vistas and outdoor adventure. Unwind on the beach, while viewing the soaring granite cliffs. Take a relaxed walk along the Shore Path. Explore the cobblestone streets of the town center and fuel up on fresh-caught lobster. Or, explore wild Acadia, Maine's dramatic national park.

Day Six: At seaAnother relaxed day at sea. Why not make it a foodie day by enjoying a casual Italian trattoria, Giovanni's Table, or the all-American good eats reminiscent of simpler days at Johnny Rockets. And, oh yes, the nightlife.

Day Seven: Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pick up the vibe of this bustling urban capital today. You'll see the Citadel, the star-shaped fortress that still stands guard from its hilltop perch. Discover historic architecture, restaurants, museums and boutique shops on the restored waterfront. Visit Peggy's Cove. Celebrate the day with some of the best beer and lobster in the Maritimes.

Day Eight: St. John, New Brunswick. Discover a perfect mixture of natural and urban adventures. Canada's oldest incorporated city, Saint John is also the country's third-largest port and the only city located on the Bay of Fundy, home to the world's highest tides.

Day Nine: At sea. Unwind today with visions of all you've taken in on our Maritime Colors YMCA Alumni cruise. So many shipboard activities and dining options from which to choose.

Day Ten: Cape Liberty. Our ship arrives at 7 a.m. this morning concluding where where we began our adventure -- Cape Liberty, N.J. You may want to extend your trip with a visit to The Big Apple or a train ride up the Hudson River Valley. Maybe a trip to Northern New England in Vermont and New Hampshire for leaf-peeping. Your Go Travel representative can arrange all that for you.
